The Port Angeles Symphony, located on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, has partnered with a local winery to create its first wine, “Rhapsody in Red.” The limited-edition wine will be uncorked at “A Bach’s Picnic,” set to take place on August 8 at Camaraderie Cellars, five miles west of downtown Port Angeles. Camaraderie Cellars co-owner Don Corson, a board member of the Port Angeles Symphony, coordinated the production of 60 cases of the wine, which will be sold to raise funds for the orchestra; bottles will also be given as gifts to the orchestra’s guest artists in the 2014-15 season. Silk painter Karen Sistek donated her artwork for the “Rhapsody in Red” label, and some of her silk art will be sold by auction at the “Bach’s Picnic” event, an annual outdoor orchestra fundraiser that includes wine, food, and music by ensembles from the Port Angeles Symphony.
