The deadline is October 3 to enter the Seattle Symphony’s Celebrate Asia Composition Competition. The competition, launched in 2008, seeks to recognize emerging composers interested in Asian culture, music, and traditions. Works should be three to six minutes in length and have Asian influences, such as folk melodies, stories and legends, and traditional instruments. The winning score will be premiered by the Seattle Symphony on March 1, 2015 at the orchestra’s annual Celebrate Asia concert at Benaroya Hall. The winning composer will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to travel to Seattle for the premiere. The winning composition will be announced by November 7, 2014.
