The Michigan Philharmonic, based in Plymouth, has announced a three-year renewal of NAN WASHBURN’s contract as music director and conductor. Now entering her eighteenth season with the orchestra, Washburn was awarded the American Prize for Conducting in 2013, based on a series of competitions. Her orchestral programming has garnered nineteen ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music. Additional honors include a Distinguished Service Award from New York Women Composers; the Girl Scout Role Model Award; an Outstanding Local Hero Award from KQED in San Francisco; and the City of West Hollywood’s Women in Leadership Award.
