The Denver Young Artists Orchestra, a youth-orchestra program that comprises five ensembles serving nearly 300 student musicians, has announced the appointment of KELLY WALTRIP  as executive director. She goes to Denver from the Lexington (Ky.) Philharmonic, where she has worked in artistic planning, operations, production, personnel, and other areas since 2009. Waltrip previously held administrative posts with Aspen Music Festival, the Music Center of South Central Michigan, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Western Michigan University and a certificate in arts management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
