The League of American Orchestras has appointed NAJEAN LEE to the position of staff liaison to its member orchestras in Groups 7 and 8. Lee is the League’s director of government affairs and education advocacy, and also serves as liaison to its Education and Community Engagement Group. She represents the League in meetings with federal agencies and with national arts, education, and nonprofit organizations on such issues as federal arts funding, nonprofit tax policy, arts education policy and funding, domestic and international travel with musical instruments, and visa processing. Before joining the League staff in 2007 Lee worked at the Council of Chief Staff School Officers and at the Arts Education Partnership. She began her career in the publishing field, working at Random House and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and subsequently obtained a master’s degree in English literature. Lee is a former violinist in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra.
