The Elgin (Ill.) Youth Symphony Orchestra has appointed ANTHONY KREMPA conductor of the Philharmonia, one of EYSO’s two full symphony orchestras for advanced middle-school and high-school musicians. Also a freelance violinist and violist, Krempa has served as conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensembles and of AVANTI, the DSO’s summer program for high-school musicians. A Michigan native, he also spent thirteen years as conductor of the Oakland Youth Orchestras in Rochester, Mich. Krempa attended Detroit’s Wayne State University and taught in Birmingham, Mich.
