Wintergreen (Va.) Performing Arts, which presents the annual Wintergreen Summer Music Festival and Academy in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and arts programs throughout the year, has announced the appointment of ERIN FREEMAN as artistic director. She is director of the Richmond (Va.) Symphony Chorus and assistant professor/director of choral activities at Virginia Commonwealth University. Freeman has served as director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus; music director of the Richmond Philharmonic; resident conductor at Peabody Conservatory; director of orchestras at Baltimore School for the Arts and American University; and a conductor in the National High School Music Institute of Northwestern University. A frequent guest conductor with the Buffalo Philharmonic, she has also conducted such organizations as the South Carolina Philharmonic, the Savannah (Ga.) Symphony, and Richmond Ballet.
