The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has appointed KATIE APPLEFIELD to the newly created position of director of external affairs for OrchKids, the BSO’s year-round and after-school music program operated in partnership with the Baltimore City Public School system. She has nearly 20 years of experience in education and development in the Baltimore area, most recently as director of development for the nonprofit organization Middle Grades Partnership, which works with public and private school communities to provide learning opportunities for academically promising middle-school students. Applefield has also held fundraising positions at the Collegebound Foundation and Friends of the Family, and has taught special education at Rosedale Center for Alternative Studies, Golden Ring Middle School, and the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
