“Sounds of classical music will soon fill the air as the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra begins its seventh season with a variety of events and special featured artists,” writes Brenda Young in Friday’s (9/19) Statesman (Austin, Tex.). “The season opens Oct. 5 with ‘Sinfonie di Luce (Symphony of Light)’ in the orchestra’s first-ever Cedar Park (Tex.) performance…. Stefan Sanders begins his second full year as the group’s musical director and conductor and says he’s thrilled to be a part of such a thriving organization. ‘An orchestra only exists for one reason, and that’s to serve its community. I grew up in Round Rock, so I’ve seen the growth firsthand,’ Sanders said.” Sanders, also assistant conductor of the Buffalo (N.Y.) Philharmonic, “has worked diligently to strike a chord between classical music and community collaboration to foster the [Round Rock Symphony’s] presence in the Central Texas area.” Round Rock’s 2014-15 season will include a November 16 concert in partnership with the Round Rock Community Choir; a December 18 holiday program with the Round Rock Children’s Choir; and a free concert and picnic May 30 in San Gabriel Park during the annual Georgetown (Tex.) Festival of the Arts.
