Organist and educator STEFAN ENGELS has joined the Music Division of Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Tex., where he will occupy the Leah Young Fullinwider Endowed Centennial Chair in Music Performance. This new position was made possible by a $2 million gift from Sarah and Ross Perot, Jr., in honor of Sarah’s mother, Leah Fullinwider. Engels is 1998 winner of the Concerto Gold Medal at Canada’s Calgary International Organ Competition, and since 2005 has served as professor of organ at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, Germany. He is also founder and artistic director of the European Organ Academy Leipzig and maintains an international career as a concert soloist.
