New York’s Albany Symphony Orchestra has announced a call for scores from young and emerging composers for its annual “Composer to Center Stage Reading Session” in May 2015. The submission deadline is December 20, 2014. Three winners will be chosen, and a work by each winner will receive a reading by the ASO, led by Music Director David Alan Miller, during the orchestra’s American Music Festival from May 11 to 16, 2015. At the festival, each winner will also attend rehearsals and performances and participate in professional development sessions and collaborations with resident composers including Derek Bermel and Michael Daugherty. The competition is part of the ASO’s “Composer to Center Stage” initiative supporting new music, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  For more information click here
