The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2014-15 series of Music 101 lunchtime lecture/performances given by musicians of the orchestra. They are PSO Principal Bass Jeffrey Turner, (“Bass is Beautiful,” October 16), violinist Sarah Clendenning (“Like Mother Like Daughter,” November 13), resident conductor Fawzi Haimor (“A Staff Conductor’s Path to the Podium,” February 19), oboist Scott Bell (“Making the Oboe Sing,” March 19), and Principal Percussion Andrew Reamer (“Scraping [Shaking and Striking] Out a Living,” April 23). Lectures cost $2 and take place at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall, the orchestra’s main performance venue, and attendees can bring a brown-bag lunch or pre-order lunch online from the caterer Common Plea.
