Carnegie Hall has appointed Decoda, a New York-based chamber ensemble, as its first Affiliate Ensemble. Decoda’s musicians first collaborated during the two-year Ensemble ACJW fellowship program created by Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. In addition to performances and partnerships in New York City, the ensemble will participate in collaborations with arts organizations, universities, and schools throughout the U.S. and abroad, including a series of workshops at Vassar College, master classes and workshops at Bowling Green State University, concerts and interactive school performances during the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Festival, and a weeklong residency with young musicians in Merida, Mexico. “Having worked with these musicians since their time as Ensemble ACJW fellows, it’s been inspiring for all of us to watch what they continue to accomplish as an independent ensemble and as great ambassadors for music,” said Clive Gillinson, Carnegie Hall’s executive and artistic director. The Ensemble ACJW program is also ongoing, with eighteen new fellows set to open their 2014-15 concert season on October 20 at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
