Registration is now open for “Arts in Health: Patients, Providers and the Community,” a symposium being held at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota on November 16 and 17. The symposium—featuring individual presentations, workshops and panel discussions, and speakers from a range of backgrounds in the field of arts in healthcare—will provide an opportunity for healthcare organizations interested in developing or expanding arts in healthcare programs and artists interested in working in healthcare to come together to exchange information about best practices in the field, and to learn from national leaders.

Speakers will include Lisa Wong, M.D., past president of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra and author of Scales to Scalpels: Doctors Who Practice the Healing Arts of Music and Medicine; Paul Scanlon, M.D., a consultant in pulmonology and critical care at the Mayo Clinic and past president of the Rochester Arts Center Board of Directors; spoken-word artists Danny Solis, Pam Whitefield, and Sha Cage; and Chris Ayers, a Los Angeles-based artist and cancer survivor.

Limited scholarships are available for artists and students. Contact humanitiesrochester@mayo.edu for information on how to apply.
