The feature-length documentary Some Kind of Spark will have its inaugural screening on November 16 at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in New York City, during the DOC NYC documentary film festival. Some Kind of Spark follows six students aged 8 to 12 who are enrolled in the Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program, held on Saturdays for students from New York City schools where music instruction is not regularly provided. The film, directed by Ben Niles—whose previous credits include the 2007 Note By Note: The Making of Steinway L1037, shown on PBS—focuses on the students and their progress over two years of lessons with Juilliard teachers. More information about the film is available here.
