The Czech Republic’s Prague Symphony Orchestra has announced that PIETARI INKINEN will assume the role of chief conductor in September 2015. He will retain his post as music director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, where he is now in his eighth season. At the Prague Symphony he will conduct a minimum of six subscription weeks plus special events each season, and will lead the orchestra in tours of the UK in 2015 and Japan in 2016. The 34-year-old conductor and violinist, a native of Finland and a graduate of the Sibelius Academy, will also become chief conductor of Germany’s Ludwigsburg Schlossfestpiele in 2015. He is currently in his fifth season as principal guest conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
