MIRIAM BURNS has renewed her contract as music director of the McLean (Va.) Orchestra through 2017-18. Now in her third season with that orchestra, she previously held music directorships at the Tallahassee (Fla.) and Kenosha (Wis.) symphony orchestras, and was a cover conductor at the New York Philharmonic from 1999 to 2007. Burns has appeared on the podiums of such U.S. orchestras as the Memphis, Virginia, Milwaukee, Syracuse, and Mansfield (Ohio) symphonies as well as the South Carolina and Northeastern Pennsylvania philharmonics.
