The Juilliard School in New York City has announced that HAROLD ROBINSON, principal bass in the Philadelphia Orchestra, has been appointed to the school’s double bass faculty beginning in fall 2015. Prior to assuming his Philadelphia Orchestra post in 1995 Robinson spent ten years with the National Symphony Orchestra as principal bass. From 1977 to 1985 he was assistant principal bass of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and from 1975 to l977 served as principal bass of the Albuquerque Symphony. He is a faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and has given recitals and master classes throughout the U.S., Korea, Japan, and Europe. A native of Houston, Robinson received his training at Northwestern University and the Peabody Conservatory.
