FAWZI HAIMOR, resident conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, has announced that he will step down from that post at the end of the 2014-15 season. Haimor joined the PSO conducting staff as assistant conductor in 2012 and was promoted to resident conductor in 2014. He maintains an active schedule of guest conducting in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Born in Chicago and raised in the Middle East and the San Francisco Bay area, Haimor began his musical training in violin and studied conducting at Indiana University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in music and neurobiology and a master’s degree in instrumental conducting. He also holds a master’s degree in conducting from the University of California, Davis.
