The National Endowment for the Arts has released “Measuring Culturing Engagement: A Quest for New Terms, Tools, and Techniques,” a report on how and why it measures cultural participation. The report summarizes a June 2014 convening in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the U.K.’s Arts & Humanities Research Council. Cultural researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers from the U.S., the U.K., and other countries met to review common assumptions, techniques, and challenges in measuring cultural engagement. The 60-page report offers guidance on how those measurements can be refined and made more relevant to different stakeholder groups. Also featured are videos from the June convening, speaker bios, and a review of literature on arts participation. To read the report, click here.
