The Greenville (S.C.) Symphony Association has appointed SHERWOOD A. MOBLEY executive director. He had served as interim executive director since September 2014, when he succeeded the retiring BILL T. JOHNSON. Prior to becoming interim executive director, Mobley served for 23 years as the Greenville Symphony’s principal timpanist. Beginning in 1996 he also fulfilled administrative roles with the orchestra, including manager of orchestra personnel and director of operations. He has served on the faculty of the Greenville-based South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Mobley holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston Conservatory and a master’s from New England Conservatory.
