The Sphinx Organization’s winter conference, “SphinxCon: ENGAGE: Empowering Ideas for Diversity in the Arts,” is set to take place from January 30 to February 1 in Detroit, Michigan. At the conference, industry leaders will discuss solutions to challenges surrounding diversity in the performing arts sector. Topics will include dance, theater, LGBTQ, research and policy, philanthropy and grantmaking, arts and healing, and innovation. Among the more than 30 presenters, respondents, and facilitators scheduled to participate at the conference are Sphinx Organization Founder and President Aaron Dworkin; Jane Chu, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts; Jesse Rosen, president and CEO of the League of American Orchestras; Maria Rosario Jackson, senior adviser of the Kresge Foundation’s arts and cultural program; and musician Cristina Pato, a member of the Silk Road Ensemble.
