The Santa Barbara Symphony has announced the appointment of JESSICA GUIDERI as concertmaster; she will make her debut with the orchestra at its “Chaplin: City Lights” concerts on January 17 and 18. Guideri continues to serve as associate concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and the Eastern Music Festival (Greensboro, N.C.) and as assistant principal violin at the Pacific Symphony in California’s Orange County. Before moving to Southern California she was associate principal second violin in the Phoenix Symphony. She has served as concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra, Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, and on the faculties of San Diego State University, Utah State University, and the Eastern Music Festival. Guideri holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School, where her teachers included Dorothy DeLay, Masao Kawasaki, and Joel Smirnoff.
