“The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra launched a free mobile app Wednesday, making the 93-year-old organization more accessible than ever before,” writes Neeti Upadhye in Thursday’s (1/15) Democrat & Chronicle (Rochester, N.Y.) “The new app—available for Apple and Android devices—allows users to view the RPO concert calendar, purchase tickets, watch videos, read conductor and musician bios, access RPO social media feeds, read program notes, and get directions and parking information. Users can also sign up to receive notifications about special offers and upcoming concerts. ‘Embracing change and innovative technologies will be guiding principles of the Ward Stare era,’ said RPO President Charles Owens. ‘This is an important step in that direction.’ Ward Stare is music director of the RPO and a Pittsford native. According to a press release, the app was funded by an anonymous donor.”
