BOB BERNHARDT has been named principal pops conductor of the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Symphony, effective with the 2015-16 season. He succeeds the late RICHARD HAYMAN, who held the principal pops conductor post from 1985 to 2007 and then served as pops conductor laureate until his death last year. Bernhardt is a former music director of the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Symphony & Opera, where he now holds the titles of music director emeritus and principal pops conductor.
