Houston’s River Oaks Chamber Orchestra has appointed ERIC SKELLY executive director. He succeeds JAMES ROWLAND, who has moved to California with his family. Skelly goes to ROCO from Houston Public Media, where for fifteen years he served as senior underwriting account executive, working with a variety of nonprofit enterprises including numerous arts organizations. Prior to that he provided creative marketing services for The Cleveland Orchestra and for the Society for the Performing Arts, a Houston-based presenting organization. He also worked in the publicity department of Houston Grand Opera, serving for more than two years as its public relations director and producing programming for the commercial classical radio station KRTS. A native of Cincinnati, Skelly relocated to Texas in the mid-1980s, beginning his career in the nonprofit field as a public relations intern with the San Antonio Festival.
