The Nashville Symphony has appointed SONJA WINKLER senior director of operations and orchestra manager. Prior to joining the orchestra in January she was director of operations and touring at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Trained in oboe from the age of nine, Winkler went on to earn two degrees in oboe performance: a bachelor’s from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s from Rice University. She has performed with the Lucerne Academy Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colo., the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, and the new-music ensembles Ossia (at Eastman) and Alarm Will Sound (in New York City).
