The San Diego Symphony has announced the appointment of KATY McDONALD to the newly created post of chief of staff, effective March 16. She has served as deputy director of external affairs at the San Diego Museum of Art since 2006. McDonald was previously director, government and community relations, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Prior to that she held a number of positions in San Diego, including director of economic development for Mayor Susan Golding and associate director of San Diego Dialogue, a partnership between the University of California, San Diego, and community leaders on both sides of the San Diego/Tijuana border. McDonald holds an MBA from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College.
