Symphony in C, which performs at the Camden (N.J.) Center for the Arts and prepares musicians and conductors for orchestral careers through concerts, educational outreach, and professional development programs, has appointed STILIAN KIROV music director, effective July 1, 2015. He is currently associate conductor of the Seattle Symphony. Previous posts include associate conductor of the Memphis Symphony and music director of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program; assistant conductor to Bernard Haitink at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and cover conductor at the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Kirov has guest conducted extensively in the U.S. and Europe and is a regular guest conductor at Pacific Northwest Ballet. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied conducting under James DePreist, and holds a master’s degree in conducting from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Kirov received further conducting training at Tanglewood, Aspen Music Festival and School, and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colo.
