Ohio’s Springfield Symphony names Louis Ross executive director

In Wednesday’s (2/25) Springfield News-Sun (Ohio), Kate Norman reports, “A new executive director has been chosen to fill the gap in the Springfield Symphony Orchestra that has been open since October when [Robyn Zimmann] retired. Louis ‘Lou’ Ross will take over on March 2. The symphony board of trustees hopes to see Ross take the symphony to the next level, President Doug Deer said…Ross previously served as director of the Lancaster Festival for 12 years. The 10-day festival in the Ohio city was started in 1985 and includes an orchestra. Under his leadership, the festival received the 2011 Ohio Governor’s Award for the Arts and the American Prize in Orchestra Performance. [Ross] received the Lenhart Award of Excellence in 2010 for leadership and service to the Ohio arts community and the Ohio Arts Presenters Network.”
