“Nothing says musical extravaganza like Bach Around the Clock,” writes Marilyn Stewart in Tuesday’s (3/11) Times-Picayune (New Orleans). Held March 20-21 in Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans, “The 29-hour, non-stop musical event returns for its 18th year with a lineup that [includes] Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, singer Helen Gillet, members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, New Orleans Trombone Choir, Loyola Symphony Orchestra, New Orleans Concert Brass Band and Clarinet Choir and others…. Sleeping bags and pillows are welcomed. Free snacks, coffee and tea are provided. Attendees may come and go. Guitarist Steve Masakowski, the Nanette Ledet Dancers, Xavier University singers and the Greater New Orleans Suzuki Forum—including 6-year-old harpist Adrienne Prout—are among the scores of musicians and dancers performing selections from classical to contemporary. Bach Around the Clock’s rich creativity might be said to reflect the heart, soul and personality of its founder, Albinas Prizgintas [who] trained at the Juilliard School of Music and … will accompany several of the performers on the church’s 5,000 pipe tracker organ…. This year at midnight, Prizgintas will provide the soundtrack to the silent movie ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ … while in costume.”
