California’s Santa Rosa Symphony will open the 2015-16 season on October 10 with Music Director Bruno Ferrandis leading the world premiere of Mohammed Fairouz’s Pax Universalis, on a program that includes Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No. 3 (“Organ”) and Mozart’s Concerto No. 10 for Two Pianos, with soloists Christina and Michelle Naughton. A second world premiere is planned for April, when the orchestra performs Daniel Brewbaker’s Dances and Dreams of Dionysus. Mei-Ann Chen will guest conduct a January program of Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8, “Saibei Dance” from Chinese-Canadian composer An-Lun Huang’s Saibei Suite No. 2, and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, with Caroline Goulding as soloist. The season will conclude in May with Ferrandis leading Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town, Debussy’s Ibéria, Ravel’s Rapsodie Espagnole, and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, with soloist Gabriela Martinez. The Santa Rosa Symphony is orchestra in residence at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University, in Rohnert Park, California.
