The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra (Providence, R.I.) has appointed CHARLES DIMMICK concertmaster. He has been a member of the orchestra since the 2002-03 season, and was named acting concertmaster in 2013 following the departure of Charles Sherba. In addition to his new post Dimmick is concertmaster of the Portland (Me.) Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and Boston-based Odyssey Opera. He has performed as soloist with the PSO, BMOP, and Winston-Salem (N.C.) Symphony. Dimmick is also active as a chamber musician with such organizations as the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival (Harrison, Me.) and Monadnock Music in  Peterborough, N.H., where he is a founding member of the Monadnock String Quartet.
