Pianist Saetbyeol Serena Kim of South Korea has won the third annual Dallas International Piano Competition, which took place from March 11 to 14 at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts. The competition is presented in partnership by the Dallas Chamber Symphony and SMU. Kim—an artist diploma candidate at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada—wins $1,500 and a concert engagement with the Dallas Chamber Symphony in the 2015-16 season. Second prize of $1,000 went to Kristyan Benitez of Venezuela, and third prize ($500) went to Israeli pianist Anna Arazi. Finalists Nathan Ryland (U.S.) and Inyoung Ki (South Korea) each received honorable mentions and $400. The competition was adjudicated by David Korevaar, Marina Lomazov, and Ran Dank.
