In Thursday’s (3/26) Grafton Daily Examiner (New South Wales, Australia), Fiona Wood previews a Sydney Symphony Orchestra event being held on Saturday, March 28, in connection with Earth Hour, presented annually by the World Wildlife Fund to draw attention to environmental issues with a variety of events around the world. “At the countdown to Earth Hour (8:30-9:30pm), the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will beam a live stream from the Sydney Opera House to all forms of media, enabling community and school orchestras within Australia and overseas to synchronize together and play along with the Sydney outfit…. In the Clarence Valley this event will take place in the Grafton Christ Church Cathedral from 7-9:30 pm on 28 March. The live streaming will commence at 8:30pm direct from the Sydney Opera House, commencing with an introduction by SSO Chief Conductor David Robertson and then a performance of Holst’s The Planets with the SSO.… Two screens [will] be erected at the Cathedral. One screen will be for the audience to view the SSO performance live from the Sydney Opera House and the other screen to act as a conductor-cam to assist our local musicians.”
