A new weekly radio program, “Sunday Night with the TSO,” will debut on March 29 at 8pm on the Toronto-based commercial radio station The New Classical FM, hosted by Toronto Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Jeff Melanson and musician Kathleen Kajioka. Content will be created jointly between the orchestra and ZoomerMedia, the media company that owns the radio station. Each episode will be aired on New Classical FM 96.3 as well as streamed live on the TSO to Go mobile app for Apple or Android; it can also be heard via a podcast through iTunes, SoundCloud and TSO’s Discover the Music media hub at blog.ts.ca. The series will explore trends and topics in classical music, feature TSO recordings, and encourage listeners to participate through social media with @TorontoSymphony. “This new partnership with our long-time collaborator The New Classical FM brings the TSO into more homes and gives audiences an on-stage seat with our orchestra,” said Melanson. “What we’re trying to do here is to address the progressive disappearance of arts coverage from mainstream media,” said ZoomerMedia founder and President Moses Znaimer.
