The Phoenix Symphony has announced the appointment of MATTHEW KASPER as assistant conductor, effective in September 2015. In addition to working with Music Director Tito Muñoz, Kasper will serve as conductor of the Phoenix Youth Symphony beginning this June. He is currently music director of the Chicago Composers Orchestra, associate conductor of the Queens (N.Y.) Symphony Orchestra, and an adjunct faculty member at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Kasper holds degrees in violin performance from the Aaron Copland School and the Chicago College of Performing Arts. He has performed in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and studied conducting at the Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, Maine.
