AARON FLAGG has been named chair and associate director of Juilliard Jazz at The Juilliard School in New York City, effective July 15, 2015. Flagg has been acting chair and associate director of Juilliard Jazz this academic year while on a one-year sabbatical from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford (Conn.), where he has served as dean and professor of music since 2009. At Juilliard Jazz he will continue to teach courses, develop interdivisional collaborations, and work closely with Juilliard Jazz Director Wynton Marsalis. A board member of numerous organizations including the League of American Orchestras and the Stamford (Conn.) Symphony Orchestra, Flagg holds bachelor’s and graduate degrees in trumpet performance from Juilliard and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.
