The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has named CAEN THOMASON-REDUS to the newly named post of catalyst/director of community programs. He succeeds KAREEM GEORGE, who served as managing director of community programs. A flutist, Thomason-Redus performed with the DSO for two years as its African-American orchestra fellow and coached the DSO-affiliated Civic Youth Ensembles. He has served as director of corporate partnerships at the Sphinx Organization; has held teaching posts at Wayne State University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the University of Evansville; and has performed with Denver’s Central City Opera, the Evansville (Ind.) Philharmonic, and the Hot Springs (Ark.) Music Festival. Thomason-Redus holds music degrees from Rice University in Houston and the University of Redlands in California.
