Switzerland’s Zurich Chamber Orchestra has announced the appointment of violinist DANIEL HOPE as music director. He takes up the post officially in 2016, succeeding ROGER NORRINGTON. Hope has performed regularly with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra since his first appearance there in 2006, and served as its artist-in-residence during the 2014-15 season. He has directed numerous orchestras from the violin, and has appeared as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Boston and Chicago symphonies, and the major European orchestras. Hope is a prolific recording artist and has commissioned more than 30 works. Born in South Africa and raised in London, he received his musical training at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
