“The name of Smucker’s is going on the Cleveland Orchestra’s next three seasons at Blossom Music Festival,” writes Scott Suttell in Thursday’s (5/7) Crain’s Cleveland Business. “Orrville-based J.M. Smucker Co. has made a ‘major commitment’ financially resulting in a three-year season sponsorship of the orchestra’s appearances at Blossom, beginning this summer and extending through 2017. Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed…. Smucker … has been a concert sponsor at Blossom for the past decade and is a member of the John L. Severance Society—a group of the orchestra’s ‘most dedicated and generous corporate, foundation and individual supporters.’ … Said Richard Smucker, CEO of Smucker and a member of the orchestra’s board of trustees, ‘We are truly fortunate to have one of the world’s great orchestras performing in Northeast Ohio, and we are pleased to be multi-season sponsor of the Blossom Music Festival.’ The orchestra said the new financial commitment from Smucker supports the orchestra’s 10-year Sound for the Centennial Campaign, which runs through 2018. Smucker’s financial support ‘helps close the gap between ticket sales and expenses, ensuring the orchestra’s ongoing financial stability while the Orchestra achieves its endowment goal.’ The 2015 Blossom Music Festival opens in July.”
