Two reading sessions by musicians of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra this month will showcase works by 2014-15 members of the orchestra’s Young Composer Project. The readings, on May 15 and 16, will feature performances by the TSO’s string quintet at Tucson Symphony Center and the full orchestra at Catalina Foothills High School, led by guest conductor Timothy Verville. The program is currently in its 21st year, and graduates of the program have gone on to win ASCP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards and had their work performed on NPR’s From the Top program. The TSO’s Young Composer Project was one of several young-composer programs profiled in the Winter 2014 issue of Symphony.
