As the Boston Pops celebrates conductor Keith Lockhart’s 20th anniversary on the podium this spring, the orchestra is using technology to connect with its audience. For each of five “By Popular Demand” concerts from May 7 to June 5 at Symphony Hall, the orchestra has invited concertgoers with mobile devices to help determine the program by choosing their favorite piece from a list; votes are tabulated, with the winning piece getting a spot on the second half of the concert. Categories include “Favorite John Williams Movie Theme,” “Favorite Iconic Rock Ballad,” and “Favorite Bugs Bunny Moment.” Fans are also being encouraged to share Boston Pops memories and photos from the last 20 years through Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, using the hashtag #Happy20thKeith. Participants have a chance to win tickets the Pops’s Cirque de la Symphonie concert at Symphony Hall on June 13; VIP tickets to its July 4 concert on the Charles River Esplanade; or a weekend getaway for two to the August 21 Cirque concert at Tanglewood.
