The Houston Symphony will perform the world premiere of “The Paintjam Concert Experience” on May 22 at Jones Hall, led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski. Dan Dun, a Houston-based “speed painter,” will create artworks as the orchestra performs, using paint, sand, glass, and canvas. Repertoire will range from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Jeff Tyzik’s The Great Westerns Suite—featuring music from The Magnificent Seven, How the West Was Won, Silverado, and Dances with Wolves—to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Following the concert, and repeat performances on May 23 and 24, Dun’s artwork will be auctioned. Dun previously collaborated with the Houston Symphony’s 2014 “Star-Spangled Salute” concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
