The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of KEITH BUNCKE as principal bassoon, effective July 6, 2015. He is currently principal bassoon in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, a post to which he was appointed in 2014 while still attending the Curtis Institute of Music. Buncke has performed with the Oregon Symphony as a soloist in its children’s concerts, and he has been a guest on NPR’s From the Top. Buncke is an alumnus of Michigan’s Interlochen Arts Academy and trained at Music Academy of the West and the Tanglewood, Pacific, and Sarasota music festivals. He appeared with the Chicago Symphony as guest principal bassoon at its May 21-23 concerts led by guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, and performs again in that capacity on June 8 and 15 under Music Director Riccardo Muti.
