The Portland (Me.) Symphony Orchestra has appointed JOHN ELLIOTT director of education and community engagement. A native of New Hampshire, he holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music, and has played tuba with such orchestras as the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops; the South Bend, Syracuse, and Honolulu symphonies; and the Rochester and Buffalo philharmonics.
