Conductor, composer, arranger, and pianist STEVE HACKMAN has been named creative director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s FUSE@PSO, a new mixed-genre series that will launch on June 24 with a program featuring Hackman’s own mash-up of the Brahms First Symphony and Radiohead’s OK Computer. Hackman is also music director of the “Mash-Up” series at the Colorado Music Festival and former co-creative director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Happy Hour series. A former assistant conductor of the Reading (Pa.) Symphony Orchestra, he studied conducting at the Curtis Institute of Music and at Aspen’s American Academy of Conducting.
