The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory, in its 70th season, will tour China from June 23 to July 5. On June 18 in San Diego’s Balboa Park in the Plaza de Panama, in front of the San Diego Museum of Art, musicians from the orchestra will perform a preview concert featuring repertoire to be performed on tour, led by SDYS Music Director Jeff Edmons. Tour repertoire includes Glazunov’s Overture Solennelle Op. 73, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2. During the upcoming tour, the orchestra—comprising 82 SDYS musicians and SDYS alumni—will perform in Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall (June 27), the Poly Grand Theatre in Yantai (June 30, July 1), and the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai (July 4).
