At the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, JAMES T. KELLEY III has been named vice president of development, and MATTHEW SPIVEY promoted to vice president and general manager.

James T. Kelley III, vice president of development, goes to the BSO from Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University, where beginning in 2007 he worked in positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as associate dean of development and alumni relations in the School of Nursing. He was previously senior associate director of major, planned, and principal gifts at the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation. Kelley holds a bachelor’s degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where he trained as a percussionist.

Matthew Spivey, vice president and general manager, has been on the orchestra’s senior staff since 2010 and previously held the title of vice president and artistic administrator. Prior to that, he was vice president of artistic administration at the Fort Worth (Tex.) Symphony Orchestra. Spivey has also held posts in artistic administration and operations at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Tanglewood Music Center.
