STEFAN SANDERS has been named music director of the Greater Buffalo (N.Y.) Youth Orchestra. He is associate conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (not affiliated with the GBYO) and also serves as music director of the Round Rock Symphony near Austin, Texas. Past positions have included assistant conductor, Austin Symphony Orchestra; music director, University Orchestra at the University of Texas at Austin; and apprentice conductor, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to conducting, Sanders performed widely as a trombone soloist and orchestral musician, including seven seasons at the Buffalo Philharmonic. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he pursued conducting studies at the University of Texas at Austin and as a fellow at Aspen’s American Academy of Conducting.
